Sleep is sadly lacking during your divorce. Stress and emotional fatigue will keep you up all night and create deeper and darker circles under your eyes.
Sleep is more important than food, yes, and chocolate (but a close second to ice cream…) for your overall mental and physical health, so it makes sense that during the most stressful time in your life getting a healthy 8 hours a night is vital for survival.
Being fully rested will help you with your –
- Emotional Balance
- And don’t forget sleep helps maintain a healthy weight (important due to previously mentioned ice cream).
From personal exhausted experience, lemonade was made out of some serious lemons. My ex and I spent months switching off and on staying at our house with our kids. It was both emotionally exhausting packing and unpacking, leaving the kids, passing each other on move day, and also physically challenging spending nights on friends and families couches and twin beds. The last of peace and rest took a huge toll. But the lemonade did come… after some more lemons and half the furniture including our bedroom being loaded into a moving truck. That beautiful and tasty lemonade came in the form of a new king size bed.

With a new coat of paint and linens, “our” environment became MY environment, and that giant bed was and still is the comfiest I have ever owned. And I learned to sleep again. All night, at peace, and waking revitalized.
So post-divorce, sleep around.
Visit a lot of stores and lay on a lot of beds. But invest in a great bed and get some well-deserved rest. You have the rest of your life to prepare for, and you’ll need the energy!
